Meet Arlen; she’s currently fighting an asylum case to Honduras where four of her family members have already been murdered. Arlen’s biggest fear is not even living in Honduras, but rather having to go there by herself without her children by her side. There is no reason why Arlen’s family should be separated; she is a perfect example of someone eligible for low-priority discretion as laid out by John Morton, the Director of ICE.
The problem is that Michigan ICE field Director, Rebecca Adducci, has no plans of abiding by the discretion memo. The Michigan office is known for disregarding national orders and doing as they please. We need to bring accountability to the Michigan ICE office and make sure they are applying discretion.
Mohammad help me make a quick phone call to the Senator’s here in Michigan and let’s ask them to hold Michigan ICE accountable. Here are the numbers to call:
“Hi, I was calling to ask that the Senator do something about the Michigan ICE office. The field director, Rebecca Adducci, is not granting discretion in cases as she should. The Michigan ICE office is ignoring the discretion memo by John Morton, Director of ICE. Will the Senator look into the problem?”
Optional Talking Points:
- If discretion was being used Wanda would not be detained, A#:078-934-301.
- If discretion was being used Claudia would not be detained, A#205-001-963.
- If discretion was being used Arlen would not be fighting her deportation, A#078-315-681.
After you call the offices please sign the petition asking for an investigation into the Michigan ICE office. Our recent infiltration of the Michigan office found numerous instances of ICE staff forcing detainees to sign Voluntary Departure.
