Three Siblings Face Deportation – Help Stop Perez Families Separation!

CLICK HERE TO TAKE ACTION AND HELP

On April 6, 2010, Laura Perez, and her two siblings, Camilo Perez and Natalia Perez. ICE came to her door asking for her parents, but they were not there.  Then, ICE proceeded to ask for Laura, Camilo, and Natalia.  After the children identified themselves, ICE detained them.  The Perez family came to the U. S. in 2000, escaping violence from a guerrilla group in Colombia.  Laura was 15;  Natalia was 13; and Camilo was 11.  On April 13th, 2010, Laura will be turning 25 in detention.

The Perez family regularly received death threats in Colombia from a guerrilla group.  In their threatening phone calls, guerrilla terrorists regularly described what the Perez family was wearing and where they lived.

After having grown up in the United States, these three DREAM Act students are awaiting deportation in Broward Transition Center.  Laura was a pre-med student at Broward Community College; Camilo was studying engineering on a full scholarship at Florida Atlantic University; and Natalia was studying interior-design at Broward Community College.  But for her detention, Natalia would have graduated with her bachelor’s this May.

“I am calling to leave a message of support for Laura, Natalia, and Camilo Perez who are awaiting deportation. I ask that Director Morton contact Field Director Orestes Cruz and halt their deportation; these three DREAM Act students are an asset to this country.”

**You may be advised to redirect your call to the Florida field office, whose number is below. It is still important for the D.C. office to register the number of calls received on her behalf.

Why should the Perez family be allowed a free pass for breaking American law when if I as an citizen broke the law I would be punished?

    • Pam

If this immigration system worked, it wouldn't be breaking the law. We need an immigration reform now. No one should be punished for trying to succeed and have a better life.

  • John

Furthermore, how is it that they are getting scholarships and financial aid that I as a citizen cannot get? Should the Perez family be allowed to not only break the law, but defraud American tax payers to boot for an education many of their own children will not be able to afford?

    • Pam

First of all many illegal immigrants DO pay taxes. Second, this has nothing to do with taxes. They are on scholarships which are obviously for illegal students, it's not fraud. American students have endless amount of help: financial aid, grants, scholarships, loans, ect. That alone shows how determined illegal students are to getting a higher education. If American students want to go to college they can, there's no excuse, it's just a matter of working hard and making sacrifices.

  • Ben

my question is this… why would American Universities offer scholarships to illegal immigrants. if they are granted a pass than why not grant everyone one. we should just open the boarders and let anyone come in. not just from mexico. but from the middle east too. maybe if they all come in then their next VBIED (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) aka carbomb. in NYC wont be a dud and allah will be praised. or we can send them back, keep our borders closed, (Mexico AND Canada) ENFORCE the laws, and maybe keep America safe.
