Opportunity For NYC Youth: Hate Crime Prevention Contest

There’s an opportunity for NYC youth between the ages of 13-19 with the OCA-NY’s 5th Annual Hate Crimes Prevention Art Project (HCPP), which features an art contest that speaks to the theme of preventing hate crimes. Especially given the high anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States today, it is important that xenophobic hate crimes, as well as other types of hate crimes, are reduced.

Youth must submit artwork at one of the listed drop-off locations in Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan by noon, Friday, July 29th. All artwork will be featured in the Hate Crimes Prevention Art Contest art exhibition opening on August 1st at the Museum of Chinese in Americas (MoCA), 215 Centre Street in Manhattan Chinatown. The top 5 prizes will be eligible for $1500 in prize money. To be eligible for the contest, all participants must attend the exhibition opening.

Below is a flyer that contains a submission form, guidelines and information about the contest. Printable versions of the flyer are available on OCA-NY’s website: CLICK HERE
