Last night, President Obama participated in a Community Forum put together by Univision, where he spoke about education, bullying, the DREAM Act, and the deportation of undocumented students, among other important issues in the Latino community. And well, let’s just say we’re less than pleased with his responses to those vital questions (Actually, we’re pretty mad about it and you can read our tweets if you don’t believe us).

First of all, we understand that the President supports the DREAM Act, has supported the DREAM Act, will continue to support the DREAM Act. Thank you. We get it. But what exactly has he done to push the bill forward in the past 2 years? What did he do last year to help pass the bill? Calling Senators is great and all, but when the President promised to pass the DREAM Act during the first year of his administration, a few phone calls just aren’t enough.
After the failure of the DREAM Act late last year, a lot of us asked ourselves: “Now what is the President going to do about student deportations?” Well, last night Karen Maldonado, a student who is currently facing deportation, asked him the same question. And we got our response: Nothing. President Obama tells us that his administration’s focus is on deporting “criminals,” not DREAM-eligible students. But as undocumented youth, we know better. We know that, for the past few years, we have fought the deportation of many students. We know that we’re currently fighting to stop the deportation of our friend Nallely, who is being transferred to a detention facility in Arizona because of a “wide right turn”. We know that the deportations of students have not stopped.
President Obama needs to stop lying to the immigrant community. He needs to stop telling us his administration is not deporting immigrant youth, while going behind our backs and detaining students like Karen and Nallely, separating them from their friends, families, and only country they know. As a supporter of the DREAM Act, this is no longer acceptable. And as undocumented youth, it is up to us to stand up and say that enough is enough. We will not let President Obama lie to our community any longer.
Mr. President, it is time for you to make a decision. Will you finally support us or will you continue to deport us? Which side are you on?

It’s not the President that will help you. It is what the legal citizens of the U.S.A. wants. You only have your parents to blame for not going through the proper channels to become legal. We are a Country of laws and you just don’t seem to comprehend that or respect that. Why would any of us welcome a person who has no respects for laws??????

All my ancestors came here legally except for the native american ones, who were already here. It is unfair for illegal students to get breaks when our citizens arn’t getting those breaks. Many of our children cannot attend college because of the cost, but would be able to if they had the same breaks that the illegals are fighting for.
Illegals have taken citizens places in the work force, leaving millions of people struggling to feed their families. We accept a certain number of immigrants for a reason. With people just coming here illegally, there are too many and they displace the citizens.
I am not a christain, close minded, or ignorant. I have helped illegal friends with their citizenship.
What breaks are you suggesting undocumented immigrants are fighting for? They’re fighting for the same RIGHTS that you and I have. The DREAM Act allows a path to citizenship for those who attend college (which they pay for or get scholarships like the rest of us) or those who enter the military. If you ask me, those aren’t considered “breaks.” That seems like the same life I’ve been given, and who am I to deny that to someone who was brought here by their parents and had no say? Who am I to deny the same rights I have to someone who deserves just as much as me? And the bottom line is that no one SUPPORTS illegal immigration. No one wants to be illegal. The point is that the citizenship process needs to be reformed. We should ALL be fighting for that.
Immigration needs to made easier so that it doesn’t take people so long to become citizens. You can’t make it easier for one group to become legal while millions are already going through the proper channels. It isn’t fair to them.
People are fighting for immigration reform. Where has it gotten us? People in congress can’t seem to agree on anything in order to get anywhere.
They came here ILLEGALLY. They are CRIMINALS. They are over-populating the states, demanding all kinds of benefits which Americans do not receive, and still demand more and more! They deserve NOTHING but to be deported back to their homes. There are LEGAL immigrants trying to get into this country the proper way, which is now all the harder because of those who break in illegally. Legal immigration involves screening for diseases, criminal history and of course, numbers. With illegal immigrants, you get everything! Criminals are criminals, period.
Their demanding all the time will be their downfall. The more they demand, the more they piss people off, the more bills we put in to stop them. Seems that more and more Americans are waking up to the nightmare of illegal immigration and are fighting against it. They have done enough damage.
Hi, Moon and Storm (cool names?). Could you please explain through which legal channels your ancestors came here? DHS and ICE did not exist until recently and they did not need a green card to enter the country back in the olden days. So, who was there to keep your ancestors out? Do you think they would be able to get into this country today? It’s very difficult to enter the country through “legal” means if you aren’t wealthy or already have a relative living here ( and even then it’s pretty hard). You are afraid of “aliens” taking over your home, while the only thing most people want is to create a decent environment for their families. I’m sorry, guys, but that’s life. Migration is a natural occurance in humanity. People tend to flock to where life is better. It has never, in the history of the world, worked what the US is doing to immigrants right now, and it never will. Sorry, but we will win eventually, no matter how many bogus and ridiculous laws these politicians will push on us. I advise you to get out of the way before you become an eyesore in the eyes of history. Love.
Interesting that poor illegal people come up with thousands of dollars to pay for their stolen ID’s and false documents. You don’t think that starving children in Africa would love an opportunity to be here? Of course not every single person that comes here will be accepted, it isn’t possible. Is it my fault that one family is allowed in and another is not?
With illegals we get criminals and diseases because they have no background check. We have lost thousands of lives due to our laws not being enforced. Is this ok with you?
Is it ok for someone to come here, break laws and get a job while displacing a citizen? It’s ok if that a citizen’s family will go hungry because they are jobless???? What is wrong with you?
People come here from all over the world and go through the proper channels no matter how difficult.
Look, Storm, obviously I know that there are immigrants here who have committed crimes. I am not making an argument for those few bad apples. But the vast majority of immigrants in the country are good people who have sacrificed their lives to get here. I really don’t think anyone wants to leave their homes, friends, and families for an uncertain future. That’s why the U.S. is great. It’s always been a magnet for the smartest, most resourceful people from around the world.
I’m just wondering, how many “illegal alien disease outbreaks” have there been? And what do you think is going to happen if we deport all of these people? All of a sudden, all of these jobs will be availiable and every starving American will inherit them? I’m sorry, Storm, that’s just not how it works.
Believe it or not, undocumented people actually add to the economy. A LOT of them do pay taxes in hopes that someday when the immigration reform comes, they would qualify for, and I’m sure a lot of them do it because they also love this country like you and I.
And also, you have to realize that you and I got lucky being born in such a wealthy nation. I don’t see why you’re afraid of some competition. Life is survival and life is random, Storm, and these people are very strong because their life was always about survival much more that yours or mine. That is why I believe the DREAMers will win, because they have more determination than the opposition does.

Listen…the US is a nation of laws. That is why citizens are not hunting you down to remove you themselves; they are going through the proper channels. Unless or until there is a civil uprising, you are protected under the laws of this country as human beings (violence is against the law.) However, you are also breaking it. You seem to think that it is for YOU to decide how the law should be broken and how it shouldn’t be. You talk about rights, what the US owes you. Your thinking is insane. The US owes you NOTHING. You are an ILLEGAL. You are NOT a citizen and are entitled to NOTHING. You have BROKEN INTO the US and are imposing demands! Oh that is indeed how it works my friend. Thousands have been deported recently and every single one of those jobs are now taken by a legal citizen!!!! My heart breaks for any human that sufferes in any way, but what we have here are millions of people who are taking away the livlihood of citizens. We lose our jobs, our medical etc. we worry sick on how we will provide for our own families. Our own people are trying to survive! Our nation is no longer the rich and wonderful nation it once was. We are trillions of dollars in debt. Only a certain number of immigrants can come here.
I have seen the tears in an elderly woman’s eyes as she told me about trying to get help with her medical but she made 2.00 above the poverty limit Jonathan and was denied. All the while some law breaker illegal has all his needs met. I worked with many illegals and they lied their way through the system collecting welfare when they were well above the poverty limit and let me tell you, this has got to stop!!!!!!!!! I have seen the dissapointed faces of people applying for a job while an illegal was taken instead not speaking a word of english, but it was cheaper to hire them. I was shocked! Our citizens matter! Our citizens have families to feed!
Don’t talk to me about poor illegals. It costs thousands of dollars to steal an identity, to buy false documents and I have never ever encountered a starving illegal ever. We have poor people right here all across the USA. They can’t afford to move to the next neighborhood never mind leave the country. Our homeless shelters are filled to capacity. Many of our poor die from the cold in winters. You have no sympathy for the citizen who has lived here their entire lives and through no fault of their own are being displaced. Many have to decide between life saving medicine or food. But oh no, lets just think of the illegals and allow them to do whatever they please.

It blows my mind that there are so many people who are so upset about illegal immigration. Humans who live in poverty and see a possibility to take risks to make life better for themselves and their loved ones will do anything to take that chance. Stop blaming parents for coming here illegally. I thank my parents for doing what they had to do so that I, my siblings, my children, and my grandchildren can live comfortably. As parents they followed through on making sure we were OK. Same with every illegal immigrant trying to get to the USA. They want to follow through with their duties as fathers, mothers, and family to make sure their loved ones are OK. Those of you who don’t get that, shame on you and I ask you, How much do you care about your family?
Listen to yourself. You are saying that it is ok for anyone to come here illegally. Name one single country who can take in all of the worlds poor people. The millions of illegals working here are NOT poor. It costs them thousands of dollars for their stolen identities and false documents. We have legal citizens who are poor. You don’t see them leaving the country demanding that someone else solve their problems.
Not one sigle person in all these topics can tell me why it is alright for an illegal to take a job away from a legal citizen. Not one single person has felt an ounce of sympathy for the legal citizen who is now displaced because of an illegal. Instead you all cry that illegals want a better life. SO DO WE! Our citizens are falling through the cracks because of illegals and people completely ignore the fact.
You ignore the illegals who have killed thousands of our citizens, who have mamed or raped and stolen. That is what illegal immigration brings. This is wrong on every level.
We have elderly people and children and everyone in between who are going without while an illegal has his every need met. You better believe we blame the parents and have every reason to.
You continue to ignore the safety and well being of our citizens, and wish for us to welcome illegals with open arms? What is wrong with you people? What makes you more important than all others? It is not our fault that the entire wolrld’s poor people can’t live here. We have our own poor citizens going without. Illegals are ruining the lives of millions of our people. You seem to be under the impression that Obama is working for YOU…he isn’t. This has NOTHING to do with you. It’s ugly politics. It’s about making the rich richer and the poor poorer. But I wouldn’t expect you to understand that. What would you know or care about American politics? You are just a pawn in a game too big for you to understand. It has a lot to do with Free Trade and Globalism. It has to do with the wealthy getting cheaper labor so they can remove the Middle Class in America. They don’t give a DAMN about you or anyone else.
