We have several medical emergencies out of the Broward Detention Center and it seems like ICE is just going to do what it does best; ignore them and hope they just go away.
All of these men have been told by doctors that it is a risk for them to be detained, but ICE continues to ignore their pleas for help. There is no reason why any of them should be detained; all of the cases are low-priority cases in need of discretion.
Can you make a call asking for these men to be freed so they can receive the medical care they urgently need?
Make a Call to Rep. Lofgren @ 408-271-8700
“Hi, I was calling to ask that the representative contact ICE and investigate the release of Junior, Angel and Luis. All three are being detained at the Broward Detention Center in Florida and all 3 have medical emergencies that are being ignored by the detention center. I understand that Rep. Lofgren wrote a letter to ICE in September about this very issue. Angel, Luis and Junior are really suffering and need to be released!”
In 2001 Junior was the victim of a robbery attempt; he was shot in the back and still has the bullet lodged near his spine. In the 3-months we’ve been visiting with Junior we’ve noticed he’s lost a lot of weight and has just deteriorated. Junior is now walking with a cane and can hardly move most days. His medical specialist has told him he needs to have back surgery right away.
Instead of giving Junior the much needed medical care ICE plans on deporting him.

Angel Raymundo:
Angel has been detained since May 1st when he called 911 for help. In
detention Angel developed a Hernia and a doctor ordered emergency surgery . . . 3 months ago!! Not only is ICE playing doctor by rejecting the doctor’s order, but they also tried to deport Angel on October 1st. Thankfully the Guatemalan consulate refused to accept Angel until after he is cared for.
Now, 23 days later, ICE is literally torturing Angel; they refuse to release him and refuse to give him surgery. Angel is in constant pain.

Luis de la Cruz:
Luis has been detained since April of this year. For the past 40-days
he’s been suffering from severe testicular pain. He has complained continuously and so far has only been provided with your basic pain medications. For the past 7-days Luis has been unable to eat due to the severity of the pain. There is no reason why Luis should even be detained; as a victim of an armed robbery he is eligible for a U-visa and should have been released months ago!

Things like this shouldn’t be happening to anyone. Not only is ICE detaining low-priority individuals but it is also refusing to provide them with medical care, care they can’t get elsewhere because they are detained!
After you call please comment here so we can keep a tally going!

[...] Why else would we fight deportations that many “pro-migrant organizations” would otherwise choose to pass on? Why else would we employ tactics that have never been practiced within this so-called movement? [...]
