Dreamie of the Week: Fabi

For bringing the Underground Undergrads to life again!

This is for last week given our site was down and the meeting report with the Vice President unavailable till today.

An International Studies major at UCLA, Fabi has met President Barack Obama and now the Vice President Joe Biden, each time imploring them to support the DREAM Act and each time, getting an affirmative answer.

On meeting Joe Biden:

He then went on to talk about the importance of international relations, decreasing poverty abroad, etc. He gave the group the big picture. He then came back to specifics. “If it were up to me and Barack, we’d have something out by the end of year. We hope to.”

It was the answer I expected. I don’t know what else I could have gotten out of it, and I must admit, I may have romanticized the situation through my own anticipation and thus felt disappointed. As he was walking away, I decided to approach him and pull him aside. I asked him if I was allowed to give him anything and he said he didn’t see why not. So I handed him a copy of Underground Undergrads (I had previously written a personal note in it), a letter from Kevin Prada and a Support the Dream Act button. I explained a bit of what they were, and he promised to read them on the plane back home. I hope he did.

A proud member of the Bruin Democrats, I have known Fabi for only a few months but in that short time, come to realize that even though she is a Democrat and a big Obama supporter (she has a life-size portrait of him), we can actually be friends! Jokes aside, she is a dedicated student, who is kind and generous and looks out for her friends.

Unfortunately, any photos or videos that I may have captured of Fabi are strictly off the record. But I have here baby bunny Oreo at 6 weeks.

I accidentally dropped Oreo the first time he was brought home, and well, Fabi was nice enough not to kick me out. Now he looks more like a hamster than a bunny. Oreo is a DREAMIE like us–he was brought to the cabin against his will, lives in a cage…

Kidding Fabi. Keep up all your hard-work on our behalf !
