Dreamers blending into society: Craig Ferguson edition

Two videos here that can highlight quite well how much this generation of undocumented youth can largely go unnoticed in our everyday life. First, an otherwise regular video from CBS’s The Late Late Show. In his monologue, Craig Ferguson picks out a particularly young-looking audience member and makes a public service announcement:

While this is just a funny segment, loyal readers might recognize Stephanie from a video DreamActivist highlighted back in May, Tam Tran’s “Lost and Found”. Here it is again, with Stephanie talking about the role ID’s play into her life, albeit with a different emphasis:

Stephanie recently said:

But these past few years of volunteering and sharing my story (with everyone from the mainstream media to community leaders to scared high schools students) have taught me that my one little story represents thousands of untold stories. My life is mighty strange — strange because one believes it’s an experience we wouldn’t willingly create for our children — and yet it is far from unique. I am one among many.

One among many others that can just blend in, indeed. Whether it be in schools, community centers, churches – and now even on nationally televised late night comedy – the Dream Act generation has proved itself to be a part of the fabric of society. And they can spell better than this.
