Please Help us Support Haiti

Here at DreamActivist, we strive to create, build and strengthen communities who have long been underserved and underrepresented, which in our case, happens to be the undocumented community in the United States.

The earthquake that struck Haiti 4 days ago has brought another such community to the forefront of the public eye. Oxfam America reports that, “as the poorest country in the western hemisphere, just under 80% of Haiti’s 9.6 million people live under less than $2 a day.” And this was before the disaster they are now facing.

Simply put, the people of Haiti need your help. CNN reports that more than any other resource, money “to purchase immediate needs such as water, food, shelter and medical supplies”  is currently the most needed.

In the name of DreamActivist, we have given $50 to Oxfam America’s relief efforts in Haiti, and urge you to donate and spread the word in any way you can.

*Ways you can help*

  1. Full list of various organizations that are accepting direct donations.
  2. Donate by text message:
SMS text “OXFAM” to 25383 to donate $10 to Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund
SMS text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to Red Cross relief efforts
SMS text “YELE” to 501501 to donate $5 to Yele Haiti’s Earthquake Relief efforts
SMS text “GIVE10″ to 20222 to donate $10 to Direct Relief
  3. Show your support and urge others to do the same by joining the official Facebook groups in their actions and tweeting information about donations and relief efforts on Twitter. As Alonso put it, it is simply not enough to support – we must also act.

Thank you.
