This Thanksgiving: #IamThankFulfor

November 25, 2009 in Opinion Piece by Administrator

Since we often don’t focus on the good things in life, I’ll stir up some positive energy here.

I am thankful that everyone we know seems to be working hard to make immigration reform a possibility in 2010.

I am thankful for the relatively new job at Immigration.Change.org

I am thankful that most schools do not care about my immigration status when it comes to admissions or financial aid.

I am thankful that I have no idea what I want for Black Friday.

I am thankful that even after fighting foreclosure for 11 months, the banks have yet to kick us out of the house. They’ll lose money if they do so I guess in hindsight, it hardly matters.

I am thankful that I still have the ability to write a nice blog post about a holiday tainted with the blood of indigenous peoples.

I am thankful for our massive following on Facebook, our increasing following on Twitter, and our upcoming launch of several amazing new platforms.

I am thankful my brother-in-law likes crabs for Thanksgiving more than turkey and doesn’t mind tagging along to a Bollywood movie with us.

I am thankful for my gym membership; I’ll need it after the amount of Baklava and Idli awaiting me downstairs.

I am thankful that I am not just a statistic.

I am thankful that I have traveled to 12 states in the past few months with a foreign passport and no negative repercussions. Here is a PSA Announcement for everyone – Holiday Travel Tips for Immigrants.

Stay safe and stay out of trouble.

What are you thankful for?
