Our biggest drawback is that we have the support in numbers but we don’t call-in to Congress as much as a few trained extremists. Congress responds to ‘hate calls’ from nativists because that is all the other side has on us–hate and extremism.
We will force you out to go back to your own countries. We real Americans are not going to pay for your dreams anymore. You have abused our good natures way too long and now we are defiant.
-”Red-blooded American”
And here we thought that all people were “red-blooded.” Look beyond a piece of paper and a 9-digit number; when we bleed, we bleed the same. The hatred, xenophobia and ignorance is apparent in this message we received. Besides the fact that we won’t be forced to leave our homes, immigrant youth have neither abused American citizens nor would the DREAM Act force anyone to pay for our college dreams. But that is what we are up against.
There are no real warrants to oppose the DREAM Act. Make sure you, your friends and families call in this year to support the effort.
Three easy things you can you do today
- Call your members of Congress! Urge your Representatives and Senators to co-sponsor the DREAM Act. Enter your zip code above to obtain contact information for your members of Congress.
- Get involved and Sign the petition asking Congress and President Obama to pass the DREAM Act in 2009.
- Ask your Congressperson to support the DREAM Act via email.
