Felipe

My name is Felipe and I have been living in the US since I was two and a half years old. In trying to go to college I found out that because my parents had done things such that I was not documented. This made it so that I was not eligible for the financial aid, including scholarships, that my peers received. Luckily, I was able to get financial help from one of my high school teachers. This allowed me to excel in my time as an undergraduate.

I majored in Mathematics and was able to finish both my B.S. and M.A. in Mathematics in less than four years after graduating from high school. I am now in a Mathematics Ph.D. program. Because of my status I cannot be hired by the university to be a teaching assistant, which is an integral part of developing teaching skills for a mathematician. It is my hope that the DREAM ACT will pass and allow me to be a TA and later on go on to work for a university in the US as a Mathematics professor.
